Poems :  Wind Chimes
Tags: Traditional   Seasonal

Wind chimes call softly in May
Like a virgin, pure and shy

In August they ring out her wedding
Across the fields and sky

Through sunny September they're mellow--
Late Summer's lingering sound

As Autumn wanes, they toll sadly
Over the gray, chilly ground

We bring them in in December
When snowflakes first start to fall

And store them with sadness and hope
On a hook at the end of the hall

We take them back out in April
When crocuses come alive

To hear their sweet song in the wind
And know that Spring has arrived

Thank-you Joe for reading and commenting

I like the sound of them too,
It seemed to me that they sounded different at different times of the year,
But then I realized that I was the one who was different.

 Re: Wind Chimes
John,
This is a beautiful poem about wind chimes. So true.
Makes me want to go out and buy a set of wind chimes!
But the sound of the chimes has to be just right!
I can never make up my mind which one to buy.
I've had them before but didn't pay much attention to them. They just got old and broke.
Now I will pay attention to them and take good care of them, taking them in in the cold weather.
Thank you for helping me to appreciate my wind chimes.
May the muse always be with you.
Joy in Glens Falls
